Therapy for Film Industry Professionals

You have undoubtedly sacrificed a lot to be successful. It’s a HARD industry and I know I don’t need to tell you that. You live it. It’s such a unique struggle because it must seem impossible to say no to anything, when “you’re lucky to do what you do” (or at least that’s what you’ve been told). For those of who are still struggling with balance because you care about your career (and have sacrificed so much for it), but also want to balance having personal joy, I’m here to help.

I am passionate about working with high-achieving professionals in film and television who need practical tools to be able to better prioritize not just work, but the other parts of life that bring joy, meaning, and satisfaction. I understand what it means to work long hours, industry politics, and the constant grind. I’m not here to tell you how to live your life. I’m here to help you figure out how to find what balance means to you.

Work-life balance has to be based in the reality of your life, not some nebulous ideal. If you’ve just gotten offered the project of a lifetime and are exhausted because you’ve been working without a break for months, we would collaborate to figure out ways that meaningfully help you, keeping in line with your values and goals. All your goals, not just professional ones.

That’s where I come in. We would collaborate not just to figure out how to deal with working in a one-industry town, but also, and more importantly, how to prevent the dread that comes from it (and maybe even find ways to laugh at the ridiculousness of it). I offer clients structured sessions where we use your time efficiently to get the most out of your 50 minutes.

I assign homework to every client, every session, because it’s how people start seeing positive change in their lives.

The time between sessions is key in helping you implement what we work on in session to start seeing progress faster. Homework is NOT: prefab handouts/extra reading/work. Instead, it’s the natural outgrowth of the session in which you have a clear next step on which to take action. It is individualized and tailored to you.

“Comedy is a very powerful component of life. It has the most to say about the human condition because if you laugh you can get by. You can struggle when things are bad if you have a sense of humor. Laughter is a protest scream against death, against the long goodbye. It’s a defense against unhappiness and depression.”
